Barbara Bush Carter

Barbara Bush Carter, daughter of the late Perry S. Bush and Daisy Burnette Bush of Thomaston, died on Saturday, May 10th, 2014 at age 81, at Embracing Hospice in Snellville, after a long decline in health due to COPD. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Math Education from the University of Georgia and her Masters of Arts Degree from Emory University. She taught high school math for nearly three decades. She also brokered real estate for another decade and always dedicated herself to her family. She was an avid reader, appreciated humor, practiced culinary arts, liked games, and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her son, R. Michael, daughter-in-law Gaye Nann, and grandson Seth. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent in her memory either to the Daisy Burnette Bush Scholarship fund at Gordon College, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or PAWS Atlanta. Mrs. Carter will be laid to rest in the Carter Family burial plot in Meansville, GA., at 11:00 a. m., on Saturday, May 17th, 2014. Friends and family will gather at Killian Hall, Lilburn, GA., from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 24th, 2014 to celebrate Barbara's life.
