Bessie Sutton Johnson

March 28, 1918 — June 20, 2010

Mrs. Johnson was a native of Gilmer County, but had lived in Thomaston for 80 years. During her working life she was employed by the Martha Mills Division of the B. F. Goodrich Company as a spinner. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Golden Club and volunteered as a Pink lady with the Upson Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. She was a member of the Silvertown Baptist Church. Mrs. Johnson is survived by two daughters, Jan (Reg) Smith of Atlanta and Lyn Jones of Griffin; a son, Bruce (Johnzalene) Burris of Peachtree City; a half-sister, Nancy Parker of Tennessee; and eight grandchildren.
