Mrs. Betty Matthews Gahagan, age 92, of 92 Glencliff Road, Thomaston, died Thursday Night, September 8th, at her residence. Mrs. Gahagan was born in Upson County to the late Charles Franklin Matthews and the late Irene Richardson Mathews. She was employed by Upson Alliance Warehouse for ten years. Mrs. Gahagan was a member of First Presyberian Church and attended Hendricks Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, John E. (Jack) Gahagan, and a son, John Matthew Gahagan. Mrs. Gahagan is survived by a daugher, Irene (Bobby) Respress, of Destin, Florida; a step-daugher, Pat Chase, of Dennisport, Massachusetts ; a son, Tom (Nita) Gahagan, of Thomaston; a brother, Magruder Matthews, of Thomaston; 4 grandchildren, Christy Bramlett, of Canton; John Gahagan, of Augusta; Elizabeth Williams, of Thomaston; and Katherine Gahagan, of Thomaston. Five great-grandchildren also survive.
