Betty Joyce Higgs Grier

February 15, 1930 — January 13, 2010

Mrs. Grier was a life-long resident of Upson County, a daughter of the late Charles Franklin Higgs and Elva DeLoach Higgs. She and her husband, the late Rev. James E. Grier, were founding members of the Thomaston United Pentecostal Church. In addition to assisting her husband in his ministry and raising her family, she also worked as a weaver at Thomaston Mills and as a seamstress for the William Carter Company. Mrs. Grier also found the time to serve as a volunteer for the March of Dimes. She was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Higgs and a son, Andy Grier. Mrs. Grier is survived by her daughter, Linda (Allen) Pasley of Barnesville; her sons, Rev. Jimmy (Sandra) Grier of Thomaston and Eddie (Tina) Grier of Yatesville; a sister, Sue (Lowell) Bailey of Thomaston; eight grandchildren, Paige (Bobby) Adams and Michelle Pasley of Barnesville, Joy (Brian) Cannon of Thomaston, Jenny Grier Messer of Meansville, Mandy (Matt) Webster of Florence, AL, John Grier and Jennifer Ray of Yatesville, and Doris Yu and Nikki Yu of Thomaston; and nine great grandchildren.
