Betty Nash

Mrs. Nash was born March 1, 1926 at Gage, OK, a daughter of Leonard H. and Hazel Corkery Rhodes. She was a graduate of Oklahoma A&M College in Stillwater, OK. She was married for 64 years to Robert L. “Bob” Nash and they lived at The Rock on the Nash Cattle Farm. Mrs. Nash was a 4-H Volunteer Leader and an active Farm Bureau and CattleWomen’s member for over 50 years. She was very active as a Partner in Education in the Upson County School System. She was an avid VIP Reader and conducted field trips to their farm for second graders and special education students for many years. In 1998, she was named the Business Partner of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce. At the 2010 Chamber of Commerce Banquet, Bob and Betty were honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Bob and Betty were presented the Georgia Farm Bureau 2010 Outstanding Achievement Award. She truly loved to tell the agricultural story to the youth and consumers. She had been involved with teaching youth about agriculture through 4-H, FFA, Ag-in-the-Classroom activities, and Partners in Education. She was a member of Barnesville First United Methodist Church. She was involved with teaching Sunday School and served on numerous committees within the churches in Barnesville and Newnan. Mrs. Nash is also survived by three children and their spouses, Cynthia and Steve Douglas of The Rock, Clifford and Laverne Nash of Moultrie, and Charles and Alexis Nash of Chicago, IL; nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
