Carolyn Andrews Black

June 11, 1912 — December 22, 2010

Mrs. Black was a life-long resident of Upson County, born on June 11, 1912 to the late Benjamin Evans Andrews and Bessie Middlebrooks Andrews. She was a graduate of Gordon College and taught school for 15 years for the Upson County Board of Education. Mrs. Andrews was a charter member of the Upson Regional Medical Center Pink Ladies, and had volunteered there since the hospital first opened in 1951. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Black was a member of The Rock United Methodist Church for 92 years and had served as the church pianist. Mrs. Black was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Black. She is survived by six nephews, R. Marcus Mitchell of The Rock, Howard Mitchell of Pike County, Eugene Black, Jr., of Albany, Collier Black of Ponte Vedre, FL., Loyd Hall Black, Jr., of Brooks and William Black of Moultrie. She is also survived by numerous cousins, great nieces and great nephews.
