Mr. Cecil E. Holmes, 86, of 361 Hwy 18 West, Molena, died Saturday, April 14th, 2012 at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin. Funeral services for Mr. Holmes will be held on Tuesday, April 17th, 2012 at 11:00 a. m., in the Chapel of the Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home in Thomaston with Rev. Billy Lawrence and Elder Dennis Johnson officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow in the Stribling Family Cemetery. Mr. Holmes was a native of Cleburne Co., AL, but had made his home in Pike County since 1975. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and was formerly employed by the Leo S. Bosarge Company, and later as store manager for CC Dixon Company in Griffin. Mr. Holmes also grew peaches on his farm on Hwy 18 in Pike County. Mr. Holmes was a 25 year member of the Montgomery Lodge #39, Free and Accepted Masons in Zebulon. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Holmes was preceded in death by his first wife, Daisy Stribling Holmes. Mr. Holmes is survived by his wife, Betty Garrard Holmes; two daughters, Jean (Danny) Petty of Greenville and Betty (Edward) Darden of Griffin; a step-son, Douglas Barrow of Augusta; a sister, Carol Johns of New Smyrna Beach, FL; a brother, Dennis Holmes of Thomaston; and 16 grandchildren, Tony Falcitelli, Chris Falcitelli, Dan Falcitelli, Lance Petty, Pamela Corp, Debbie McNeil, Brian Williams, Jody Williams, Ward Darden, Dwayne Petty, Greg Petty, Rhonda Wilbanks, Blake Houston, Gatlin Houston, Justin Barrow and Jason Bone. Also surviving are 24 great grandchildren and 21 great great grandchildren
