Donald W. Kilgore Sr.

Mr. Donald W. Kilgore, Sr., age 70, of Lizella, GA, died Saturday evening, December 24, 2016, at the Carl Vinson Medical Center in Dublin, GA. Funeral services for Mr. Kilgore will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Rev. Russell Nuss, Rev. Jerry Garner, and Rev. Johnny Jackson will officiate. The family of Mr. Kilgore will receive friends on Tuesday, December 27, from 5 until 8 PM at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Mr. Kilgore was born November 1, 1946, in Thomaston, GA, to the late Benjamin Franklin and Edna Moore Kilgore. He attended R. E. Lee Institute and served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years and later retired from the GA National Guard with 36 years of service. He was employed as an electrician by Thomaston Mills and also by Mid GA Freight Liners. Mr. Kilgore was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Lizella and the McIntyre Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Martha Sue Kilgore, and a brother, Ernest Kilgore. Survivors include his wife, Connie Ham Kilgore of Lizella; a daughter, Mary Shawanaree (Eric) Larson of Douglasville, GA; a son, Donald W. 'Donnie' (Tammy) Kilgore of Kathleen, GA; a stepdaughter, Andrea (Claudia Hinchcliffe) Nuss of Dallas, TX; a stepson, Russell (Beth) Nuss of Griffin, GA; three sisters: Joyce (Pete) Moran of Manchester, GA; Brenda Wilson and Linda (Buster) Smith, both of Thomaston; six grandchildren: Drew Larson of Des Moines, IA; Hampton Smith of Lincoln, NE; Jonathan (Kayley) Smith of Jacksonville, NC; Kayley Kilgore of Quitman, GA; Cameron Kilgore and Lily Kilgore, both of Macon, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the donor's choice of Veterans Organizations or Cancer Fund. Fletcher-Day Funeral Home of Thomaston is in charge of all arrangements.
