Dr. James T. King, 83, of Thomaston, died Thursday, November 6th, 2014 at his home. Funeral services for Dr. King will be held on Sunday, November 9th, 2014 at 2 pm at Trinity Baptist Church and burial will follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery. Dr. King was a native of Pike County but had lived in Thomaston and Upson County for many years. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine and operated the Thomaston Animal Clinic for 15 years. Dr. King was a member of several professional organizations including the Omega Tau Sigma International Veterinary Fraternity, the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association. He received the President's Award from the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association in 1991. Dr. King was a member of the Kiwanis Club, and had been a member of the Board of Trustees of Westwood School. He was also a member of the Georgia Cattleman's Association and the Middle Georgia Cattleman's Association. He received the Hall of Fame Award from the Georgia Cattleman's Association in 2010. Dr. King was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Latrelle J. King; four children, James T. King, Jr., and his wife, Janet Ogletree King, Howard Jones King, Marian King Bone and her husband, Philip W. Bone, and Lori King Tyson and her husband, Wendell Tyson; a brother, Joe Edward King; a sister, Jacqueline King Carmichael; seven grandchildren, James Lory (Brittney) King, Lauren King (Josh) Sprayberry, Jones McClellan King, Marie Ann King, John Christopher (Veronika) Rabon, James William (Jennifer) Rabon and Daniel Chase Tyson; and four great grandchildren, James Lory 'Tripp' King III, Natalie Sabrina Rabon, Maggie Rabon, and Connor Rabon. The family of Dr. King will receive friends at Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home on Saturday from 6 until 8 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America, 706 Haddonfield Rd., Cherry Hill, NJ 08002.
