Dr. Paul L. Dawkins, age 88, formerly of Thomaston, died Sunday morning, December 8, 2013, in Brightmoor Nursing Center, Griffin. He was born in Gastonia, NC, to the late Franklin Thomas Dawkins and the late Myrtle Mae Tarbush Dawkins. Dr. Dawkins was a graduate of the 1943 class of R. E. Lee Institute and the 1951 class of Palmer College of Chiropractic. In 1952, he began his career with Ellis Chiorpractic Clinic. Dr. Dawkins was active in Flint River Counsel Boy Scouts of America. He had resided in Griffin, GA for the past thirty years and was a member of Hightower Methodist Church in Thomaston. Dr. Dawkins was predeceased by siblings, Mary D. Johnson, Pauline D. Agnew, Clenoard Dawkins and Robert Dawkins. He is survived by two sisters, Frances D. Deal, of Cedartown, Fairy D. (Gene) Jackson, of Hiawassee; two brothers, Leonard Dawkins, of Atlanta and James (Betty) Dawkins, of Thomaston. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at 11:00 AM, in the Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Herb Flanders will officiate. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. Condolences may be made to the family at www.pasleyfletcher.com.
