Mrs. Eleanor Wheless Ford, age 90 of Thomaston died Tuesday August 31, 2010 at the Medical Center of Central GA. in Macon. Mrs. Ford was the daughter of the late Jackson R. Wheless and the late Edna Morris Wheless. She was born and reared in Thomaston, GA. A 1937 graduate of R.E. Lee High School, and a graduate of the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. She was a member of Phi Kappa Phi honorary society. Mrs. Ford taught first and second grades in Thomaston Public Schools for 31 years, and was active in various teacher organizations. She was active in the First Baptist Church for 58 years, having joined the church in 1942. She taught classes in the Junior Intermediate and Adult Departments. She held many office's in the Sunday School and the WMU serving as Director and Women's Director. She was a member and officer in the Retired Teachers Association and the AARP. She was a member of the Senior Members group, and the Prime Timers in her church. Since her retirement she enjoyed traveling and playing bridge, as well as working with older citizens in volunteer work. Mrs Ford was, was the wife of the late George Ford, Sr. and is survived by one son, George Ford, Jr. of Atlanta, a sister, Beatrice Wheless Easterbrook of Oxford, GA. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jacqueline Wheless Black, and two brothers, Gordon Wheless, and Russell Wheless, all of Thomaston. Funeral Services will be held Friday September 3rd, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Thomaston with the Rev. Bill Barber and Rev. Edwin L. Cliburn officiating. Interment will follow in the South View Cemetery. Friends may visit the family at the Funeral Home Thursday September 2nd, 2010 from 5:00 til 7:00 p.m.
