Earnest Charles Boldenow, Jr. age 81, of 147 Crescent Rd., Thomaston, GA, died July 18, 2009, at his residence under the care of Thomaston Hospice. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dave Ormerod and Rev. Mary Jane Gardner officiating. Visitation will be held in the church parlor at 10:00 AM prior to the service. Earnest was born in 1927 in Hammond, Indiana at Saint Margarita's Hospital. He joined the army reserves in 1947 before the Korean War and served until 1968 making the rank of major. He farmed 160 acres of land near Plymouth, Indiana for over thirteen years growning corn, wheat, soybeans, oats and baby pigs. He moved from Indiana to South Dale County, Florida in 1959 where he stated working for Delta Airlines. He was employed there for nine and one-half years in air cargo and baggage service. He moved to Georgia in 1968, continuing to work for Delta Airlines on the ramp, baggage service and air cargo. He retired February, 1990 with over thirty years. He worked for twenty-nine years without missing a day. In 1952 Ernest joined the Presbyterian Church in Plymouth, Indiana, served as elder in 1962 in Miami in a Presbyterian church there, and several terms as elder at First Presbyterian Church in Thomaston, Georgia. Ernest was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lois Boldenow, parents Ernest C. Boldenow, Sr. and Alma Boring Boldenow, a sister, Viola Boldenow Reed, stepson, Robert Newman and Step son-in-law, Jerry Buchanan. He is survived by his second wife, Shirely Oxford Boldenow, his sister Loretta Boldenow, stepson, William Newman (Kate), stepdaughters, JoAnn Buchanan and Julie Aderhold (Keith), grandchildren: Jerry William Buchanan (Aimee), Jenny Douglas (David), Ben Newman (Pam), Daniel Newman (Melissa) and Joshua Aderhold, great-grandchildren: Molly Quinn, Zoe Douglas, Kyle Newman, Claire Newman and Abigail Newman.
