Mrs. Frankie Ward Oxner, 100, of Thomaston, died Sunday, June 23rd, 2013. Mrs. Oxner was a native of Salem, SC. She was a graduate of the Asheville Teachers College of Asheville, NC, and later Tift College in Forsyth. She taught school in South Carolina and in 1943, she and her husband, the late W. Guy Oxner, moved to Thomaston. They both taught school in The Thomaston City Schools System until their retirement in 1975. She taught 8th grade math at R. E. Lee Junior High School. Mrs. Oxner was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and was a life-time member of the American Legion Auxilary. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Thomaston. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Oxner was preceded in death by a twin sister, Jeffie Ward Ballard. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 707, Thomaston, GA 30286, or the donor's favorite charity.
