Mr. Ira Ray Scott, 73, of Sunnyside, GA, and formerly of Thomaston, died Friday, June 9, 2017, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 11, at 2:00 PM, at The Storehouse Church. Rev. Jeff Scott, Rev. Hugh Smith, Sr., and Rev. Ray Lowe will officiate, and burial will follow in Emory's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at The Storehouse Church on Sunday afternoon from 12:30 until 2:00 PM. Mr. Scott was born in Thomaston, GA, on February 27, 1944, to the late Ira Henry and Jessie Clyde Gossett Scott. He was a residential and commercial paint contractor, and he had worked for Thomaston Mills as a doffer. Mr. Scott was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served in Viet Nam in many different capacities. Mr. Scott was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Scott, and two sisters: Sherma Eller and Barbara Varner. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Scott of Griffin, GA; three sons: Rev. Jeff (Tabitha) Scott of Athens, TN; David Scott of Griffin, GA, and Keith Scott, of Forsyth GA; a daughter: Lisa Scott, of Griffin, GA; two sisters: Clyde Scott Reeves and Gaynelle Scott Sloan; eleven grandchildren: Heather Scott (Trey) Ward, Amy Scott, Samantha Scott, Rebecca Scott, Racheal Scott (Austin) Middlebrooks, Jacob Scott, Emma Scott, Bella Scott, Zion Scott, Ava Scott, and Brianna Harris; two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
