James W. Peacock

January 9, 1921 — April 23, 2011

Mr. James W. Peacock, Sr., age 90, of 309 West Lee Street, died Saturday Night in Riverside Nursing Center. Mr. Peacock was a native of Dodge County, Georgia and a resident of Upson County for much of his life. Mr. Peacock operated Peacock Appliance Service, retiring in 1989. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, receiving a purple heart for his service in the European Theater of the war. He was a member of Grace Primtive Baptist Church. Mr. Peacock was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Carlisle Peacock. Mr. Peacock is survived by: His Wife - Mrs. Gealdine Burkett Peacock, of Thomaston; 1 Daughter - Mrs. Charlotte (Jim) Brediger, of Cartersville; 2 sons - Mr. James (Rosalind Casteel) Peacock, Jr., of Georgetown, South Carolina; and Mr. Jay (Jan Culverhouse) Stewart, of Peachtree City; Grandchildren - James Alan Peacock, of Mineral Springs, North Carolina; Christine Middleton, of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Christopher M. (Michelle Dowdy) Peacock, of LaGrange; 7 Great-Grandchildren also survive. Memorial Contributions may be made to Grace Primitive Baptist Church.
