Mr. James Wilson 'Jimmy' Cox, 90, of 302 Magnolia Ave., Thomaston, died Monday, April 16th, 2012 at his home. Mr. Cox was a native of Guston, KY. He was a World War II veteran of the U. S. Army and fought in various battles in Normandy, The Rhineland and Eastern Europe. He was awarded a Purple Heart Medal for wounds he received during his service. Mr. Cox moved to Thomaston and opened Jimmy's Garage which he operated for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a member and former president of the Builder's Sunday School Class. He was also active in the Church Radio Ministry. Mr. Cox is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Brantley 'Dot' Cox; two sons, James Terry Cox of Alexander City, AL, and George Timothy 'Tim' (Lori) Cox of Paradise, TX; and two sisters, Evelyn Shacklett of Surprise, AZ., and Mary D'Jernes of Morrisonville, NC. Four grandchildren seven great grandchildren also survive.
