Jay Marion Hammock

May 17, 1961 — June 8, 2012

Mr. Jay Marion Hammock, 51, of 114 Kings Rd., Thomaston, died Friday, June 8th, 2012 at his home. Mr. Hammock was a native of Macon but had lived in Thomaston for many years. He was a graduate of Upson High School. Mr. Hammock worked with his family for several years at the Bumper-to-Bumper Auto Parts store in Thomaston. At the time of his death he was a service technician with the Sears Holding Corporation and had received an award as one of the top service technicians in the Southeast. During his teen-age years Mr. Hammock was a national champion in go-kart racing. He was an avid and accomplished golfer and his fellow golfers knew him as someone who was hard to defeat. He was a member of the Slvia Hills Baptist Church Mr. Hammock is survived by his wife, Angie Johnson Hammock; two sons, Jason Hammock of Rex and Justin Hammock of Thomaston; his father and step-mother, Marion and Tincie Hammock of Macon; his mother-in-law, Joan Johnson and his brother-in-law, Tracy Johnson, both of Thomaston; a step-sister, Theresa Lovinggood of Macon; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean C. Hammock, his brother, Phil Hammock and his step-brother, Chris Woodard.
