Mr. Larry W. Watts, 76, of Thomaston, died Thursday, October 20, 2016, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin, GA. Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 22, at 1:00 PM, in the First United Methodist Church. Rev. Herb Flanders will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 4 until 6 PM at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Mr. Watts was born in Griffin, GA, on November 8, 1939, to the late Rufus Evans Watts and Vera Duncan Watts. He was a 1958 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute and a graduate of West Georgia College. He began his career at the C&S Bank of Thomaston. Following graduation from college he was employed by Thomaston Mills as a cost accountant and later in their sales division. He retired in 1994 from Uniroyal Goodrich Tire Company, Martha Mills, where he was director of safety and health programs. Mr. Watts was active in numerous community, civic, and social organizations throughout his lifetime. He was a member of the Thomaston First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Becky White Watts of Thomaston; a daughter, Lara Watts (Patrick) Greer of Thomaston; a son, Blake (Ann Marie) Watts of Monroe, GA; four grandchildren: Elliott Greer and Tripp Greer, both of Thomaston; and Duncan Watts and Zoe Watts, both of Monroe, GA.; two brothers: Mike (Felicia) Watts of McDonough, GA, and Gary Watts of Madison, WI. An aunt: Evelyn Duncan Barfield, and his mother-in-law, Betsy White also survive. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, PO Box 707, Thomaston, GA 30286, or to The Gordon College Foundation, 419 College Drive, Barnesville, GA 30204.
