Leon Darrell Johnson

Mr. Leon Darrell Johnson, age 74, of Thurston School Road, Thomaston,GA, died on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon. Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, September 5, 2010 at 2:00 PM in South View Cemetery. Rev. Joey Smith will officiate. Mr. Johnson was a graduate of R.E. Lee High School and Campsville College, Campsville, Kentucky.He attended the University of Georgia. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the State of Kentucky. Mr. Johnson returned to Thomaston in 2001. He had served as president of the Sons Of The American Revolution, Ocmulgee Chapter and was a member of the Upson Historical Society. He was an avid geneology researcher and a U.S. Navy veteran. Mr. Johnson was an ordained Baptist Minister and a member of the East Thomaston Baptist Church. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Mrs. Gene H. Johnson, Thomaston; sons, Mr. Gregory Wayne Johnson, Apex, NC., Mr. Kristoffer Lee Johnson, Mt. Airy, MD; stepsons, Mr. David(Joyce) McSwain, Thomaston, Mr. Mark(Lori) McSwain, Thomaston, Mr. Thomas(Lydia) McSwain, Albany, GA; brothers, Mr. Wayne E.(Fran) Johnson, St. Augustine, FL.; three grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and one nephew.
