Mrs. Lillian Carden Shurley, 98, of Thomaston, died Thursday, August 30th, 2012 at Riverside Nursing Center. Mrs. Shurley was born on September 18th, 1913, in Junction City, GA. She was a daughter of the late Robert Griggs Currington and Georgia Mae O'Hearn Currington. She attended the Martha Berry School in Rome, Ga., and was employed by Thomaston Mills in the Spinning Room until her retirement. She was a member of the Hightower United Methodist Church. Mrs. Shurley is survived by three daughters, Faye (Bob) Caton of Lumberton, NC., Ruth Wall of Thomaston and June (Steve) Keen of Douglasville; seven grandchildren, Jim Watson, Jeff Watson, Karen Granger, Rob Caton, Jr., Kathy Hendrix, Melissa Pearson, Keener B. Hazard, and Stephanie Herring; and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Jean Carden Watson and a grandson, Andrew Bain.
