Mrs. Shaver was a native of Henderson, TX., but had lived in Thomaston for many years. Until her retirement she served as Director for the Gilmore Center for a number of years. In recognition for her contributions to the community, Mrs. Shaver received the Sertoma Service to Mankind Award in 2000. Mrs. Shaver attended the Mount Olive Baptist Church. Mrs. Shaver is survived by two daughters, Judy (Robert) Bowles of Thomaston and Deborah (Tom) Cox of East Palatka, FL; a son, Bill (Lynn) Shaver of Thomaston; two brothers, Herman Vandiver of Andrews, TX, and Wilburn Vandiver of Palmdale, CA; nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a long-time special friend, Mack Hamlett of Thomaston.
