God called home his loyal and faithful servant Lula Montgomery Poole, age 87, on April 12, 2013. Lula was the twin daughter of the late Casrell and Fannie Montgomery of Butler. Along with her parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters she was also preceded in death by her twin sister, Eula Jenkins, her husband T.J. Poole and her daughter Cynthia Karen Poole. She is survived by her son Charles Poole, her daughter Christy Poole (Steve) James and grandsons Thomas and Ben James all of Thomaston, grandaughters Lori Klingman of Charlotte, NC, and Katherine Leigh Davis of Thomaston, her sister Evelyn Morrell and her brother Edwin Montgomery of Butler, two great grandsons and a host of nieces and nephews. She was lovingly known by her family and friends as 'Lulu', a name given to her by her granddaughter, Lori, whom she loved baking cupcakes with. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her grandsons Thomas and Ben were the light of her life. She spent many years working in the Thomaston Mills until she was injured in an accident and had to retire. Her courage and strength to recover from the accident only proved what a strong woman she was. She was a wonderful cook and was known for her brunswick stew, dressing, pecan pies and cakes. Clarks Chapel was her Church and she was very devoted to it and her Pastor, Dean Hemphill. While attending Clarks Chapel she was very active in her Sunday School Class and the Baptist Women's Group. She served as treasurer for the women's group. After living with her daughter and her family for 15 years, Lulu moved into Riverside Health and Rehab due to the effects of vascular dementia. She was cared for there by some of the most caring and compassionate people. Lulu will be missed dearly by her family, but we will not grieve for her because we know she opened her eyes today in the presence of her Heavenly Father and all her loved ones who have gone before her. We can only imagine her happiness when she was reunited with them and we know that one day we will be reunited with her. Until then, we will always be thankful to have been blessed to have her in our lives and we will cherish the memories of our Lulu.
