Marcia Elaine Hewett Brookins

Marcia Elaine Hewett Brookins, age 68, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at Harborview Health Care. Visitation for Ms. Brookins will be held Tuesday, December 4, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 5, at 11:00 AM at Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery. Ms Brookins was born on January 10, 1950, to Samuel Andrew and Betty Collins Hewett. She was a 1968 Graduate of Robert E. Lee Institute and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Flint River Technical College in 2004. She was of the Baptist faith. Ms. Brookins is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Melinda and Ronnie Taylor of Thomaston. Nephews, Andrew B. Taylor and David Taylor, and great niece, Trinity Taylor also survive. Ms. Brookins was an avid crafter and was best known for her fine crochet. Her works have been displayed in the Pettigrew Stamps house as well as on the Christmas tree at Georgia’s State Capitol. She was also a published writer of poetry.
