Mrs. Martha Daniel Wilder, 93, of Thomaston, passed away Sunday, November 10th, 2013 at Riverside Health and Rehab in Thomaston. Mrs. Wilder was born in Thomaston on March 30, 1920, a daughter of the late Cliff and Lila Smith Daniel. She was a member of the R. E. Lee Class of 1936. She and her husband, the late John 'Johnny' Louis Wilder, married on Pearl Harbor Day. Mrs. Wilder held several jobs after high school, then worked for approximately nine years at the Central Cafe. She was eventually opened the Rebelette Beauty Salon. She operated this business for 42 years. She finally closed this business in December 2002, approximately 3 months before her 83rd birthday. Martha loved her family, her grandchildren and her great-granddaughter. She enjoyed traveling to new places and visiting old friends. Her travels took her to all 48 adjoining states and Washington, D. C. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Buford Daniel; niece Jean Gallman; and son-in-law W. Bain Proctor. Survivors include her children, Carole W. Proctor of Griffin, and Nancy Echols and her husband Ed of Thomaston; grandchildren Walter Proctor of Griffin/Atlanta, Daniel 'Danny' and Cathy Proctor of Griffin, and Heather Proctor Couch and her husband Jeremy of Marietta; great-granddaughter Miss Bain Proctor; and a special niece Luanne Helms and her husband Gary of Thomaston. Mrs. Gallman's husband, Bob Gallman, and several cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Wilder's family would like to publicly thank the staff of Riverside Health and Rehab for their loving care and assistance to Mrs. Wilder through the past four years.
