Meghann Estelle Smith

Miss Meghann Estelle Smith, 24, of LaGrange and formerly of Thomaston, died Sunday, October 16th, 2016 in Columbus. Funeral services will held Friday, October 21, at 4:00 PM, at the First Baptist Church of Thomaston. Rev. Bill Barber and Rev. Joy Smith will officiate, and burial will follow in the Valley Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends in LaGrange on Thursday, October 20, from 10 until 12 noon, at the First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange, and in Thomaston, on Thursday evening from 6 until 8 PM, at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Miss Smith was born in Chattanooga, TN, on February 14, 1992. She was a graduate of Upson Lee High School and later graduated from LaGrange College with a BS in Education and also a Masters Degree. She was employed by The Troup County Board of Education as a teacher at Ethel W. Kight Elementary School. Miss Smith was a member of the First Baptist Church of Thomaston. She is survived by her mother, Kenya Jackson (Gary) Campbell of Thomaston; her father, Barry (Kathy) Smith of LaGrange; her fiance, Kenneth Belcher of LaGrange; her grandparents, Elmo and Betty Jackson of Thomaston and Bruce and Alice Smith of LaGrange; a sister, Olivia K. (Cam) Ellis of LaGrange; two brothers, Matthew D. Barr of Auburn, AL, and Trey Smith of LaGrange. Memorial contributions may be made to the Troup County Humane Society, P. O. Box 1351, LaGrange, GA 30241. Contributions should be earmarked for the new Doggie Park sponsored by the Humane Society.
