Miss Vivian Gordy

Miss Vivian Gordy, 89, a life-long resident of Upson County, died Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at West Village Retirement Community. Graveside funeral services for Miss Gordy will be held on Friday, April 23, at 11:30 AM, in the Valley Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Travis Graham officiating. The family will receive friends Friday morning from 10:00 until 11:00 AM, at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Miss Gordy was born on June 8, 1931, to the late Carl Willis Gordy, Sr. and Lillie Mae Hall Gordy. She was a 1947 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute and enjoyed working on their class reunions. After graduation she was employed by Bray Furniture Company for fifteen years. She later was employed by and retired from C&S Bank with 28 years of service. Miss Gordy enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading. She was a member of the URMC Auxiliary and worked at the hospital gift shop. She was a life-time member of Valley Grove Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, pianist, organist, and church treasurer. In addition to her parents, Miss Gordy was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Gordy; a sister and brother-in-law, Josephine Gordy Daniel and Pete Daniel; and a brother and sister-in-law, Carl W. Gordy, Jr. and Evelyn Gordy. Survivors include a niece, Sandra (Frank) Wolcott of Hoover, AL; four nephews: David (Becky) Daniel of Aledo, TX; Barry (Connie) Gordy of Meansville, GA; Terry (Nancy) Gordy of Griffin, GA; and Todd (Fraser) Gordy, of Macon, GA; and special cousins: Joyce Warren, Jerry (Martha) Helms, Angie (David) Short, and Andy (Judy) Warren, all of Thomaston.
