Mr. Alfred Douglas Britt, 72, of Thomaston, died Saturday, February 6, 2021, at Upson Regional Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Mr. Britt was born on September 19, 1948, in Griffin, GA, to the late Robert Walker Britt and the late Martha McKenney Britt. He was a 1966 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute, and he served in the U. S. Navy as a medic in DaNang during the Vietnam War. He attended Gordon Military College and then transferred to the University of Georgia where he received a degree in journalism. He was employed by C&S Upholstery Supply of Savannah, GA, as as salesman, and was the lead singer of the band, Little Alfonzo and the Fabulous Bootleggers. Mr. Britt was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Thomaston. In addition to his parents, Mr. Britt was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Britt Adams. He is survived by his wife, Mae Jo Crumpton Britt of Thomaston; two daughters: Betsy (Charles) Maddox and Sara Butts, both of Thomaston; a son, Mathew Britt, of Thomaston; a sister, Becky (Mel) Lucas of Lagrange, GA; a brother: Bobby (Marty) Britt of Fayetteville, GA; and three grandchildren.
