Mr. Amos Edgar Burkett

Mr. Amos Edgar Burkett, 90, of Thomaston, died Monday, November 14th, 2016 at Upson Regional Medical Center. Funeral services for Mr. Burkett will be held on Wednesday, November 16th, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Mountain View Baptist Church with Dr. Rex King and Rev. Ryan Christopher officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family of Mr. Burkett will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. Mr. Burkett was born in Upson County on September 18th, 1926, a son of the late Otis Edgar and Florrie Kennedy Burkett. He served his country in the U. S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was the retired owner/operator of Burkett and Stubbs Garage. Mr. Burkett was a member of the Mountain View Baptist Church where he held the title of Deacon Emeritus. He was a former Deacon Board Chairman. Mr. Burkett is survived by his wife Mary Ann Burkett; two daughters, Sharon (Henry) Lunsford of Thomaston and Tara (Neil) Dyer of Milledgeville; a brother, Doil Burkett of Thomaston; two grandchildren, Buffy (Billy) Roberts of Thomaston and Chelsey Hale of Macon; five great grandchildren, Kaitlin Hammonds, Cody Hammonds, Will Roberts, Cliff (Katy) Roberts and Courtney Roberts; and a great great grandchild, Kenlynn Roberts.
