Mr. Ben Jeff Ard, Sr.

Mr. Ben Jeff Ard, Sr., age 80, of Thomaston, died Saturday, June 6, 2020, at his residence. Graveside memorial services for Mr. Ard will be held Monday, June 8, at 2:00 PM, in the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Ryan Christopher officiating. Mr. Ard was born in Thomaston on November 26, 1939, to the late Jack Lincoln Ard and Albertina Matthews Ard. He had been employed with Reeves Tree Service and had done construction work. Mr Ard served his country in the U. S. Navy from 1960-1966 during the Vietnam War, and he was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Suzette Avery; two sons: Kevin Ard and Ben Jeff "Benji" Ard; and two sisters: Della Durham and Sheila Fenley. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lee Brookins Ard of Thomaston; a daughter: Lucy (Jeff) McDaniel of Thomaston; two sons: William Mark Ard and Perry Ard, both of Thomaston; six sisters: Annette Sandifer and Daphene Carraway, both of Griffin, GA; Gennell Royal of Forsyth, GA; Elaine Walton and Karen L. Coggins, both of Thomaston; and Mavis Garner of Flovilla, GA; five brothers: Judson Lee Ard of Thomaston; J. L. (Dove Lee) Ard, Jr., of Virginia Beach, VA; Aubrey J. Ard of FL; Byron (Rhonda) Ard of Molena, GA; and Edgar Alto (Betty) Ard of Thomaston. Fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren also survive.
