Mr. Carl W. Gordy Jr.

Mr. Carl W. Gordy, Jr., age 91, of Macon, died Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at Pine Pointe Hospice of Central Georgia in Macon. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 30, at 4:00 PM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Rev. Diane Sweckard will officiate, and burial will follow in South View Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 3 until 4 PM, at Fletcher- Day Funeral Home. Mr. Gordy, son of the late Carl W, Gordy, Sr. and Lily Mae Hall Gordy, was born in Upson County on January 1, 1925. He served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II in Europe where he was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne. He retired as District Manager with the Life Insurance Company of Georgia after a distinguished career of 30 years. Mr. Gordy received numerous sales awards and sales trips, and his district won top awards for many years. Mr. Gordy was a Royal Arch Mason and a member of the Forest Hills United Methodist Church in Macon. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gordy was predeceased by a granddaughter, Ellen Gordy Askew and a grandson, William Carl (Bill) Collins. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Wilson Gordy of Macon; a daughter: Sandra (Frank) Wolcott of Hoover, AL; three sons: Barry C. (Connie) Gordy of Meansville, GA; Terry R. (Nancy) Gordy of Griffin, GA; and Todd A. (Fraser) Gordy of Macon, GA; a sister, Vivian Gordy of Thomaston, GA; six grandchildren: Christopher (Angie) Collins of Lincolnton, GA; Leigh (Jeff) Adams of Winder, GA; Amy (Alan) Salter of Cumming, GA; Seth Gordy, Matt Gordy, and Laine Gordy, all of Macon, GA.
