Mr. Carlton Homer McDaniel, 74, of Thomaston, died Saturday, May 2nd, 2020 at his home. Graveside funeral services for Mr. McDaniel will be held on Tuesday, May 5th, 2020 at 11:00 AM in South View Cemetery with Mr. Chris Hinson and Rev. Bill Barber officiating. In light of the Covid 19 restrictions the family will be outside Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Monday evening from 7:00 until 8:00 to acknowledge friends and well-wishers that wish to drive through the parking lot. Mr. McDaniel was born in Molena on July 31, 1945 but lived in Upson County since childhood. He was a son of the late Milburn Marvin and Landice Capel McDaniel. He was the nephew of the late Elna Capel, Helen Capel and Homer Capel of Molena. Mr. McDaniel was a 1963 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute and later graduated from Upson Technical School with a degree as a commercial and residential electrician. He was an embroidery technician for the Hirsch Corporation and was also employed by the William Carter Company and Thomaston Mills. He served in the Georgia National Guard from 1963 until 1969. Mr. McDaniel was the owner and operator of McDaniel Electric Company. Mr. McDaniel enjoyed horseback riding with friends and family. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Mr. McDaniel is survived by his wife, Becky McKinley McDaniel; a daughter, Hope (Robert) Huey of Sharpsburg; three grandchildren, Amanda (Jamie) Ray, Mekeyia Huey and Will Huey, all of Sharpsburg; two great grandchildren, Addison Ray and Colton Ray; a special nephew, Mack Culverhouse of Sharpsburg and two special nieces, Alicia McKinley of Thomaston and Annie King of Woodstock. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Laura Huey, and a brother, Tony McDaniel. Fletcher-Day Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
