Mr. Cleveland Earl Montgomery, 87, of Thomaston, died Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at his home. Graveside funeral services for Mr. Montgomery will be held on Friday, May 1, 2020 at 2:00 PM in Upson Memorial Gardens with Rev. Joey Smith and Dr. Derrick Keeter officiating. Friends are welcome to attend but due to Covid 19 restrictions, are asked to practice social distancing. Mr. Montgomery was born in Thomaston on November 21, 1932, a son of the late Arnold Cleveland and Cora Ella Freeman Montgomery. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1953 thru 1955. Upon his return to Thomaston he was employed by the Martha Mills Division of B. F. Goodrich Company as a loom technician. Mr. Montgomery was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed playing dominos and rummikub with his friends, Joan and Lamar McCrary. Mr. Montgomery was a member of East Thomaston Baptist Church. Mr. Montgomery is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Sapp Montgomery; two daughters, Teresa (Ray) Bartlett and Traci (Keith) Snidemiller, both of Thomaston; a son, Tod (Teri) Montgomery of Thomaston; a brother, Barney Montgomery of Phoenix, AZ; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harvey Montgomery, James Montgomery and Riley Montgomery; and five sisters, Bertie Wade, Clara Mallory, Onzell Jackson, Sara Ward and Faye Bagley.
