Mr. Earl Dean Troelsen

October 26, 1930 — April 27, 2017

Mr. Earl Dean Troelsen, 86, of Thomaston, died Thursday, April 27th, 2017. He had been a resident of Upson County since 1988. Graveside funeral services for Mr. Troelsen will be held on Sunday, April 30th, 2017 at 2:00 PM in South View Cemetery with Dr. Glen Gilstrap officiating. A Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 30th, 2017, at 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Mr. Troelsen, son of the late William and Mildred Troelsen, was born on October 26th, 1930 at Marvin, SD, and grew to manhood on a small ranch there. He served his country in the U. S. Air Force for eight years, including the Korean War. He was a retired deputy sheriff with the Polk County, FL, Sheriff's Department and was also a retired Deputy Wildlife Officer for the State of Florida. Mr. Troelsen was a member of the Florida Police Officer's Association since 1964. He was also a member of the American Legion, Post 81, of Thomaston and was a volunteer leader with the Upson County 4-H. He attended services at the First Presbyterian Church in Thomaston. He was united in marriage with Mary W. Bray on March 12th, 1976. She preceded him in death in July of 2002. In addition to his parents and his wife he was preceded in death by an infant brother, David; a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Peggy Troelsen; and a step-son, David Miller. Survivors include a son, Scott Troelsen of Sarasota, FL; a daughter, Kathee Wright of Winter Haven, FL; a granddaughter, Jennifer (Johnny) Roach of Dallas, GA; a step-son, Jeff (Joni) Miller of Winter Haven, FL; a brother, William C. Troelsen of Twin Brooks, SD; a sister, Audrey Jibben of Milbank, SD; three grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.. Fletcher-Day Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
