Mr. Emmett L. Thompson

Mr. Emmett L. Thompson, 93, of Jonesboro and formerly of Thomaston, died Tuesday, July 17th, 2018 at the Wellstar Atlanta Medical Center in Atlanta. Funeral services for Mr. Thompson will be held on Saturday, July 28th, 2018 at 1:00 PM, at Mountain View Baptist Church with Dr. Rex King officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family of Mr. Thompson will receive friends at Mountain View Baptist Church on Saturday, July 28th, from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour. Mr. Thompson was born on August 21st, 1924 in LaGrange, a son of the late Hugh Grady and Sarah Ashley Thompson. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and served during World War II. He was a self-employed truck driver for over 60 years. Mr. Thompson is survived by two daughters, Jan (George) Sprayberry of Stockbridge and Theresa (Bob) Warren of Fayetteville; a son, Grady L. (Mary Jane) Thompson of Fayetteville; six grandsons, 15 great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Thompson, and a daughter, Trudy T. Callahan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain View Baptist Church, 2569 Jeff Davis Road, Thomaston, GA 30286, or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 511 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
