Mr. Frederick Alex Myrick, Sr., age 73, of Thomaston, died Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin, GA.
A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mr. Myrick was born in Savannah, GA, on August 3, 1950, to the late Melvin Lee Myrick and the late Frances Kicklighter Myrick. He was a 1968 graduate of Baldwin High School in Milledgeville, GA. He had been employed by the Milledgeville Police Department and was retired from the GA Department of Corrections. Most recently, he had been employed by the Woodbury Police Department. Mr. Myrick enjoyed watching sports and was a jack of all trades. He loved his family dearly, especially his siblings and grandchildren. Mr. Myrick was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Myrick was preceded in death by five sisters: Betty Gibbs, Dena Carter, Juanita Hall, Mildred Nelms, and Beverly Sotiropoulos; and three brothers: Melvin Myrick, Terry Myrick, and A.C. Myrick. He is survived by a daughter, Kelley Myrick O'Neal of Simpsonville, SC; a son, Ricky (Toni) Myrick of Thomaston; and four grandchildren: Christopher Myrick of Thomaston; Tripp O'Neal, Ava O'Neal, and Saylor O'Neal, all of Simpsonville, SC. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family requests that those desiring make memorial contributions to Bethesda Academy, 9520 Ferguson Avenue, Savannah, GA 31406, or to GA Fraternal Order of Police.
