Mr. Garner Mckenzie Ellerbee

Mr. Garner McKenzie Ellerbee, 93, of Thomaston, died Thursday, March 26, 2020, at his residence. Private funeral services for Mr. Ellerbee will be held in Glenwood Cemetery with Rev. Huey Allen Bridgman and Rev. Bill Barber officiating. Mr. Ellerbee, a native Upsonian, was born January 30, 1927, to the late William Thomas Ellerbee, Sr. and Mary Magdalene "Maggie" Shivers Ellerbee. He was a 1943 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute and served his country in the United States Navy during World War II as a Yeoman 3C aboard the USS Craig. Mr. Ellerbee was retired from Thomaston Mills, Inc. where he served as Corporate Secretary. He held memberships in the American Textile Managers Institute and the Georgia Textile Manufacturers Association. Mr. Ellerbee was very active at Fellowship Baptist Church before joining First Baptist Church of Thomaston where he served as a Deacon. Mr. Ellerbee is survived by his wife, Martha Bridgman Ellerbee of Thomaston; two step daughters: Donna Bridgman (Shane) Burr of Canton, GA, and Carol Bridgman Watson of Thomaston; seven grandchildren: Lindsay Watson Wynn, Benjamin Watson, and Chad Watson, all of Thomaston, Marcey Stein of Ball Ground, GA, Dane Burr of Chula Vista, CA, Liz Erickson of Temecula, CA, and Kirk Burr of Modesta, CA; and twelve great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to First Baptist Church TV Ministry, 208 South Church Street, Thomaston, GA, or to Southern Grace Hospice, 384 Racetrack Road, McDonough, GA 30252.
