Mr. George David Owsley

Mr. George David Owsley, 87, of Thomaston, died Monday, November 28, 2022, at Riverside Health and Rehab. Funeral services for Mr. Owsley will be held Friday, December 2, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Burial will follow in South View Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home.

Mr. Owsley was born May 13, 1935, to the late Lucious Warner Owsley and Pearl Owsley. He was a 1954 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute and earned a degree in music from Mercer University. He led the music for many area churches. Mr. Owsley retired from Orkin in Macon, GA, as a branch manager. He enjoyed woodworking, keeping a well-maintained yard, and Atlanta Braves baseball. He loved his family dearly. Mr. Owsley was a member of The Rock Baptist Church and attended Clark's Chapel Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Shirley Leigh Owsley; his brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Nadean Owsley; his son-in-law, Dennis McKissick; and two nephews, Luke and Billy Owsley.

Mr. Owsley is survived by his daughter, Vicki McKissick of Thomaston; a granddaughter, Courtney McKissick (Heath Eidson); a grandson, Stephen (Tori) McKissick; and three great grandchildren: William Morgan, Jackson Montford, and Violet McKissick.
