Mr. Jack Leon Caldwell, Sr., 81, of Thomaston, died Friday, May 1, 2020 at Upson Regional Medical Center. Graveside funeral services for Mr. Caldwell will be held on Monday, May 4, 2020 at 2:00 PM in Crystal Hill Cemetery with Rev. Joey Smith officiating. Mr. Caldwell was born in Butler on April 12, 1939, a son of the late Thomas Windham and Lala Jane Ivey Caldwell. He lived in Upson County since childhood. Mr. Caldwell served in the Georgia Army National Guard and was a retired truck driver for Estes Express Lines. After his retirement he was employed as a bailiff in Upson County Superior Court and also as a security guard for Brightmoor Nursing Home in Griffin. Mr. Caldwell was a member of East Thomaston Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and a member of the church choir. Mr. Caldwell enjoyed working in his shop, gardening, and eating meals with family and friends. Mr. Caldwell is survived by his wife of 58 years, Annette P. Caldwell; a daughter, Julie (Scott) Freeland of Leesburg; a son, Jack (Giselle) Caldwell of Sugar Hill; a sister, Frances Orange of Thomaston; a brother, Leo (Mary Jean) Caldwell of Zebulon; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
