Mr. James "Curly" Preston Blanton

Mr. James Preston 'Curly' Blanton, 92, of Thomaston, died Thursday, April 12, 2018, at Riverside Health and Rehab. Funeral services for Mr. Blanton will be held Sunday, April 15, 2018, at 3:00 PM, in the chapel of the Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Rev. Jackson Landham will officiate, and interment will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home Sunday afternoon from 2:00 until 3:00 PM. Mr. Blanton was born November 1, 1925, in Thomaston, GA, to the late Oscar T. Blanton, Sr. and Annie Mae Gerald Blanton. He retired from Thomaston Mills in 1989 with 45 years of service. Mr. Blanton, a veteran of the United States Navy, served during World War II. He was of the Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Boyt Blanton. Survivors include two brothers-in-law: Gordon (Evangeline) Boyt of Thomaston, GA, and Neal (Rachel) French of Zebulon, GA.; and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staffs of Riverside Health and Rehab, Brightmoor Hospice, and Upson Regional Medical Center for the care provided to Mr. Blanton.
