Mr. James E. Ellington, Sr., age 82, of Yatesville, died on Sunday evening, March 21, 2021, at his residence. Funeral services for Mr. Ellington will be held Wednesday, March 24, at 11:00 AM, at Yatesville United Methodist Church with Rev. Howard Gossett officiating. Interment will follow the service in Yatesville United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 23, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Mr. Ellington was born January 15, 1939, in Thomaston a son of the late Lee Ellington and the late Naomi Boyt Ellington. He was a 1957 graduate of Yatesville High School and later a graduate of Georgia College of Milledgeville. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from the Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base after 37 years of service. Mr. Ellington devoted his life to public service. He served as a Yatesville City Councilman for many years and later serving as Mayor Pro Tempore. He served and retired as the Chief of the Yatesville Fire Department. He was a member of Yatesville United Methodist Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Eloise Ellington of Yatesville; two sons, Jim (Debbie) Ellington of Thomaston and Chester Ellington of Yatesville; two sisters, Bootsie Curry of Yatesville and Brenda (Bill) Newsome of Wrens; one brother, Joe (Patricia) Ellington of Yatesville; seven grandchildren, Kaylee Craven, Carson Ellington, Amber Ellington, Cody Ellington, Nicholas Ellington, Abby Ellington, and Anna Grace Ellington; and four great grandchildren.
