Mr. James E. “Jimmy” Womble, Sr.

Mr. James E. "Jimmy” Womble, Sr., age 77, of Thomaston, died Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Upson Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services for Mr. Womble will be held on Tuesday, March 7, at 11:00 AM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Dr. Rex King will officiate, and interment will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home.

Mr. Womble was born in Thomaston on July 1, 1945, to the late James Claire Womble and the late Vera Erline Womble. He was the owner and operator of Womble’s Wrecker Service. Mr. Womble served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Twin Oaks Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Womble was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Womble. He is survived by his wife, Tonna G. Womble of Thomaston; a son, James Esley Womble, Jr., of The Rock, GA; a brother, Donald Lee (Debora) Womble of Thomaston; a grandson, Riley James Womble; and a sister-in-law, Karen Sue Anthony. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
