Mr. James Edward "Cowboy" Perdue, age 81, of Thomaston, died Thursday, February 14, 2019, at his residence. Funeral Services for Mr. Perdue will be held on Sunday, February 17, 2019, at 3:00 PM, in the Chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home with Rev. Derek Lovelady officiating. Interment will follow in the South View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home one hour prior to the service on Sunday. Mr. Perdue was born in Upson County on March 3, 1937, a son of the late James Victor and Sara Kelly Perdue. He was a graduate of Yatesville High School, and a member of the Yatesville Baptist Church. Mr. Perdue was employed for many years by the William Carter Company where he worked in maintenance. He also worked for Wal-Mart in maintenance. He served in the Georgia National Guard for eight years. Mr. Perdue was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Bellew Perdue; son, Blake "Todd" Perdue; son-in-law, Donald "Don" Milstein; and a brother, Kelly Perdue. Survivors include his daughter, Michelle Perdue Milstein of Thomaston; grand dog, Zoe Milstein of Thomaston; two sisters, Jean Morgan of Milner; Elizabeth Perdue of Yatesville; brother, Moses (Verleen) Perdue of Yatesville; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to Rock Hill Volunteer Fire Department in memory of Blake "Todd" Perdue. P. O. Box 21, The Rock, GA 30285.
