Mr. James Ernest Bransford, 79, of Thomaston, died Thursday, June 8, 2017, at Upson Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 11, at 2:00 PM, at the New Hope Baptist Church. Rev. Tim Hayes and Mr. Charles James will officiate, and interment will follow in Griffin Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Mr. Bransford, a native of Phenix City, AL, was born February 28, 1938, to the late William Dean and Iva Julia Arrington Bransford. He worked in textiles with Springs Mills and was retired as a Sergeant with the Georgia Army National Guard. Mr. Bransford was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bransford was predeceased by his wife, Eddie N. Bransford, and three siblings: Annie Kate Patillo, Joe Bransford, and Harold Bransford. Survivors include his daughter: Patsy B. (Robin) Boyt of Yatesville, GA; one sister, Sybil Leahy of Lovejoy, GA; a granddaughter, Melissa Boyt and a grandson, David (Carla) Boyt, both of Yatesville, GA; and 7 great grandchildren: Robert M. Boyt, Daisy Boyt, D. J. Boyt, Courtney Boyt, Dakota Boyt, Georgia Goodman, and Rylin Boyt, all of Yatesville. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
