Mr. Jerry R. "Ronnie" Huckaby, Sr.

Mr. Jerry R. "Ronnie" Huckaby, Sr., age 80, of Thomaston, died Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at Upson Regional Medical Center. Funeral services for Mr. Huckaby will be held Friday, June 25, at 3:00 PM, in the Fletcher-Day Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dean Hemphill officiating. Interment will follow the service in Upson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Mr. Huckaby was born October 1, 1940, in Thomaston, a son of the late Joseph Huckaby and the late Maywood Self Huckaby. He was a graduate of R.E. Lee Institute. He worked in the boiler room at Thomaston Mills where he retired after many years of service. He was of the Baptist faith. “Ronnie” as he was known to family and friends, enjoyed fishing and loved his family very much. Mr. Huckaby is survived by his daughter, Wanda (Mark) Wilson of Thomaston; his sister, Patsy Cates of Thomaston; his four grandchildren, Cassie Huckaby, Cameron Wilson, Tyler Wilson, and Tori (Seth) Morgan; and his eight great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Huckaby was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Oxley Huckaby, a son, Jerry R. “Runt” Huckaby, Jr., a sister, Jean Tyson, and his two brothers, Terry Huckaby and Don Huckaby.
