Mr. Jimmy "Mark" Smith

Mr. Jimmy “Mark” Smith, age 58, of Columbus, Georgia, formerly of Thomaston, died Friday, May 24, 2024, at Piedmont Columbus Midtown Hospital.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Smith will be held Tuesday, May 28, at 2:00 PM, in the Wesley Church Cemetery in Butler, Georgia, with Rev. Chet Yates officiating.

Mark was born in Thomaston on July 10, 1965, to the late Gorman “Jimmy” Smith and the late Sylvia Dunnahoo Smith. Mark was employed as a roofer and worked with Phil Ellerbee. He was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church.

Mark is survived by his sister, Alethia Burleson of Columbus; his five nieces and nephews, Amanda Smith, Alana Burleson, Andrew Smith, Patrick McKenzie, and Brian Smith. Several great nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his brother, Gorman Michael “Mike” Smith.
