Mr. John Edward Trice, Jr., age 74, of Thomaston, died Monday, March 31, 2025, at Upson Regional Medical Center. Funeral services for Mr. Trice will be held on Friday, April 4, at 11:00 AM, at the First Baptist Church of Thomaston. Rev. Bryan McPherson and Mr. Bob Cochran will officiate, and interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home Thursday evening, April 3, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
Mr. Trice was born in Thomaston on April 14, 1950, to the late John Edward Trice, Sr., and the late Bettisue Rogers Trice. He was a 1968 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute, and he was a graduate of the University of Georgia and the Mercer University School of Law. He was a partner in the Mallory and Trice Law Firm. Mr. Trice was a member of the Thomaston Kiwanis Club for 49 years – the second longest serving member at the time of his death. He had served on the Thomaston City School Board for seven years. In addition to his law practice, he enjoyed farming and tending his cows at their farm at The Rock. He and Frances enjoyed traveling to Canada, Ecuador, Norway, Austria, Australia, and other places. Mr. Trice was a member of the First Baptist Church of Thomaston where he had served as Finance Committee chairman, First Baptist Foundation chairman, Deacons chairman, Sunday School teacher, and choir member.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Trice was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Ferguson Trice. He is survived by a daughter, Allison Trice of Winder, GA; two sons: Bryan (Laurie) Trice of Warner Robins, GA; and Benjamin (May Park) Trice of San Francisco, CA; a brother: David (Brenda) Trice of Griffin, GA; and six grandchildren: Brandon Trice, Lillie Kate Trice, Blake Trice, Tyson Randle, Hulon Trice, and Everett Trice.
