Mr. Lamar Henry Mccrary

Mr. Lamar Henry McCrary, age 92, of Thomaston, died Monday, December 21, 2020, at his residence. Funeral services for Mr. McCrary will be held Wednesday, December 23, at 3:00 PM, at East Thomaston Baptist Church. Rev. Joey Smith and Rev. Kevin Kersey will officiate, and interment will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary of the church on Wednesday from 2:00 until 3:00 PM. Mr. McCrary was born January 6, 1928, in Butler, GA, to the late Arthur Lee McCrary and Jewell Jarrell McCrary. He was a graduate of R. E. Lee Institute and was retired from Thomaston Mills where he was the department manager of the card room. Mr. McCrary served his country in the U. S. Air Force as a sergeant during World War II. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. Mr. McCrary was a member of East Thomaston Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon for many years. Survivors include his wife, Joan T. McCrary of Thomaston; a daughter, Stephanie (Randy) Carlson of Macon, GA; a son, Lee (Susan) McCrary of Lagrange, GA; a step daughter, Stacie J. Kersey of Acworth, GA; and two step sons, Paden (Michelle) Kersey of Loganville, GA, and Rev. Kevin (Janet) Kersey of Villa Rica, GA. Seventeen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren also survive. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to East Thomaston Baptist Church, PO Box 329, Thomaston, GA 30286.
