Mr. Lawrence E. Hammock, 89, of Thomaston, died Sunday, May 15, 2016, at Tranquility Hospice of Kennesaw Mountain. Funeral services for Mr. Hammock will be held on Tuesday, May 17th, 2016 at 2 pm in the Chapel of the Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Rev. Bill Barber will officiate and burial will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens. The family of Mr. Hammock will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Tuesday from 1 pm until the funeral hour. Mr. Hammock was born on September 30, 1926 in Butler, a son of the late Dennis Edward Hammock and Julia Voncile Booth Hammock. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and served during World War II. Mr. Hammock was a retired weave shop overhauler for the Martha Mills Division of the B. F. Goodrich Company. He attended First Baptist Church. Mr. Hammock is survived by his wife, Belle W. Hammock; a daughter, Kristi (Cris) McAbee of Thomaston; a son, David (Mary) Hammock of Kennesaw; a sister, Lucille Street of Dacula; two brothers, Robert Hammock of Thomaston and William Hammock of Bradenton, FL; six grandchildren, Abby McClure of Augusta, John McAbee of Thomaston, and Matthew Hammock, Jacob Hammock, Reagan Hammock and Lilianna Hammock, all of Kennesaw; and one great grandchild, Alleigh Jane McClure. Memorial contributions may be made to the Television Ministry of the First Baptist Church, 208 South Church St., Thomaston, GA 30286. Fletcher-Day Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
