Mr. Michael Bruce Hayes

Mr. Michael Bruce Hayes, age 73, of Thomaston died Monday afternoon in the Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin. Funeral services for Mr. Hayes will be held on Thursday March 12, 2015 at 3:00PM in the Chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Rev. John Blackmon will officiate. burial will follow in the South View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home from 6pm till 8pm Wednesday Night. Mr. Hayes was born in Thomaston, GA on June 22, 1941 to the late Ira Elonzo and Mary Eunice Hayes. He was a graduate of R. E. Lee Institute and Upson Technical College. He retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation where he worked as an Engineer and Draftsman. Mr. Hayes was a member of Meansville Baptist Church. He was an ordained deacon. He enjoyed music and was a guitarist and vocalist. He also enjoyed hunting, hunting dogs, canoeing, hiking, biking and was an avid outdoorsman. Mr. Hayes is survived by his wife, Jeanie Hayes of Thomaston; a daughter, Ronda (Russell) Jenkins of Loganville; two sons, Marc (Amy) Ellington and Jeff (Brandy) Ellington both of Thomaston; six grandchildren, Andrew (Brittany) Jenkins, Austin Jenkins, Anna Ellington, Cale Ellington, Blair Ellington and Beau Ellington; a 1st cousin, Al (Claudia) Jordan of Lawrenceville; and a close, lifelong friend, Cathryn Conaway Rogers.
