Mr. Ogle Kirk Straughan

Mr. Kirk Straughan, 85, of Thomaston, died Thursday, December 8, 2016, at Upson Regional Medical Center. Graveside funeral services will be held Sunday, December 11, 2016, at 2:00 PM, in South View Cemetery. Dr. Rex King will officiate. Mr. Straughan was a native of Callao, VA, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He had been employed with Goodyear, was Thomaston-Upson Chamber of Commerce Executive for more than 20 years, and had been employed with Wal-Mart. He was an avid golfer and had served as President of the Thomaston Country Club, was a Past President of the Lions Club, and was a Shriner. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Thomaston. Mr. Straughan was predeceased by his parents, Ogle Kirk Straughan, Sr. and Florence Ada Straughan, and his son, Jay Straughan. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margaret A. 'Peggy' Straughan of Thomaston; a son, Dale A. Straughan of Thomaston; two sisters: Alice Cathrine Lewis of Reidsville, VA and Florence H. Moore of Richmond, VA; a grandson, Charles A. Straughan of Charlotte, NC; and a granddaughter, Margo L. Straughan, of Sharpsburg, GA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 3 International Dr., Suite 200, Rye Brook, NY 10573, in memory of Jay Straughan.
